My weekly radio show will be Thursdays from 8:30-10pm. You can listen live online at http://whrwfm.org or if you’re in the Binghamton area at WHRW 90.5 FM.
This is going on year five for me as a DJ and over the years I have expanded from just playing music to having interviews and discussing current issues on campus and in the community. It has been extremely rewarding for me to be able to provide more quality content to my listeners.
Last semester I interviewed artists such as Rugged n Raw, Hasan Salaam, Phase One & Asa Buchanon of Bugnanas, Mine, KY, Idasa Tariq, and others.
My first show of this semester I interviewed students who are on the boards of different organizations on campus. I spoke with one of the founding committee members for the Binghamton University chapter of the NAACP, members of the board of B.L.A.C.K Unity (Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Caucasians Keeping Unity), and DCX (Diverse Cultural Excellence). The campus is ready for these organizations, all of which are relatively new. Their mission is so important and I was very glad to be able to discuss them on air.
Last night I had the Binghamton record label Project DCX and artists Idasa Tariq, Kymel Yard and Quality Kidd. I premiered many of their songs, including a few tracks from Idasa’s new album “Pissed Off Soul Man” which was released in July, as well as three brand new tracks from Quality Kidd.
It will be a good semester, I’m glad to be part of this station.
